Assistant Coach

The Missoula Impact Baseball Club is seeking an 18U Assistant Coach to support baseball skill development and in-game coaching. The club was established with the following mission statement:
Our mission is to provide expanded opportunity for high school kids in Missoula to play competitive baseball by encouraging and working with schedules of multi-sport athletes; developing baseball skills and showcasing talent in ways that may lead to opportunities to play at the next level; and, foremost, helping players grow as young men through a positive environment in which hard work, commitment, team-based values, and joy of the game are encouraged, rewarded, and define the club’s culture.
Missoula Impact 18U plays a roughly 40-game summer season from May 27 through August 3 against club baseball and American Legion teams in Montana and elite club competition across the Rocky Mountain region and Pacific Northwest. The club has two high-level coaches with extensive college playing experience serving as Director of Baseball Operations and its 18U Manager, respectively. This is a great opportunity to join the staff of a baseball club that is clearly on the rise.
Duties
The Assistant Coach works under the Director of Baseball Operations and Manager, and is responsible for supporting player skill development and assisting the Manager with in-game coaching, as follows:
· Develop a strong partnership with the Director of Baseball Operations to carry out instructional coaching as needed to maximize player skill development.
· Work collaboratively with the Director of Baseball Operations and Manager in advance of each set of Impact games to develop lineups, pitching rotation plans, defensive alignments, and all other aspects of pre-game preparation.
· Support implementation of all Impact practices throughout the season.
· Assist the Manager with all aspects of in-game coaching, including helping to make decisions on pitching changes, defensive substitutions, and all necessary in-game moves.
· Carry out all management responsibilities and in-game coaching with the utmost integrity and professionalism and in accordance with the club’s mission, values, and objectives. This involves executing in-game coaching very respectfully regarding umpires, coaches, and players.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Experience
· Knowledge of baseball and high baseball intellect, attained by playing at the high school-aged and, ideally, collegiate, or professional level.
· Instructional coaching skills and willingness to learn and be mentored by the Director of Baseball Operations.
· Ability to execute in-game decision-making to foster the team’s success and player development.
· Ability to communicate effectively with players and coaches.
· Willingness to work collaboratively and take direction from the Director of Baseball Operations throughout the season and from the Manager during games.
