Impact Sweeps Billings UpperDeck Expos

MISSOULA - Orion Plakke tossed three sharp innings and Weston McCullough sparked the offense as the Missoula Impact Baseball Club wrapped up a three-game sweep of the Billings Upper Deck Expos 18U A team with a 16-1 run-rule victory on Sunday.

Plakke, the hard-throwing senior right-hander, was solid in his first outing of the season, striking out six batters around one hit and three walks.

Missoula’s hitters were again patient at the plate and hit well with runners on base. Impact batted around in both of the first two innings. McCullough drilled a two-RBI double to the gap in left-center into key a seven-run first inning. Andrew Hall drilled a booming RBI double to the fence in the second, and Hunter Johns and Davin Nau ripped line drive RBI singles. Johns and Brennan Labbe added well-hit sacrifice fly outs

Billings’ Diylon Highsmith stroked a line drive single in the first but Plakke buckled down and retired the side. Billings plated a run in the second inning on three walks an error but Plakke avoided further damage in striking out the side.
