Oschell and Karvandi Lead Missoula Impact to Convincing Win over Frenchtown

BONNER - Nolan Oschell tossed an efficient complete game shoutout and sensational sophomore Nick Karvandi crushed a long two-run home run to spur the Missoula Impact Baseball Club to a dominant 18-0 victory over the Frenchtown Broncs last Thursday at Kelly Pine Field.

Oschell was masterful in spacing four hits with no walks and eight strikeouts. The hard-throwing right-hander continued his run of immaculate control in his last two starts. Oschell hasn’t allowed a walk or an earned run in his last 14 innings on the mound, notching 19 strikeouts.

Karvandi continued his torrid pace with another 3-for-3 day. He drilled a high fastball from impressive Frenchtown freshman lefty Dawson Rodoni over the left field fence to give Impact a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Sparked by Karvandi’s bomb, Missoula poured it on with a 16-hit onslaught. Landin Ramsay had three hits to spur the Impact attack. Marek Hall, Sawyer Tackett, and Cole Smith each added two hits for Missoula. Kody Evans came back from an injury to deliver two hits and three RBIs.

Rodoni recovered from Karvandi’s hot to keep it a 2-0 game going into the fifth inning but Missoula broke it open against the Broncs relief core. Evans broke the game open with a screaming line drive two-run triple to deep right center. Hall and Tackett followed with sharp singles, giving Impact a 5-0 lead.

Hunter Johns and Ramsay led off the sixth with singles, Smith ripped an RBI single to left, Karvandi singled to right, Evans drilled an RBI single up the middle, and Tackett added an RBI single to put the rout in full motion. Ramsay, Smith, Karvandi, and Joey Supola added singles to round out the scoring.

Missoula (13-11) wrapped up a solid yet slightly uneven spring season with the resounding victory.
